Three Ways to Support our Mission of Culture & Performing Arts
The mission of Touchet Valley Arts Council (TVAC) is to preserve Culture and Performing Arts opportunities for youth and families in Columbia County and SE Washington. The performing arts are being defunded at a time when we need them most, and we are in need of support for the future beyond COVID-19.

Balcony Remodel Project

We have a completed architectural plan detailing necessary changes to the structure of our BALCONY space to accomplish multiple goals:
1. To substantially improve safety in the front row of the balcony, which is the primary project purpose.
The front row has inadequate foot and leg room. The project would improve safety by widening the space in front of the first row so patrons are not pressed up against the railing when entering or leaving, especially if they have to pass by someone already seated.
2. To provide more space between rows and greater leg room in rows L-O , as well as in the front row "J".
3. To improve visibility of the stage from seating in rows K-O, by raising the back rows higher.
4. To bring the landing at the top of the stairs from the lobby, and its railing, up to current safety standards.
As a bonus, the redesigned balcony would improve our audio and stage lighting "control booth", and a glass panel on the right side of the drawing (by the stairs, where there is now a solid wall) will allow us to add up to five additional seats. We expect to keep old-style seats in the back rows.
We were seeking donations and local grants to help us secure needed larger outside grants. We were hoping to raise $20,000-30,000 locally, about half the estimated cost. We welcome all forms of financial support to complete the remodel, as soon as funds allow. Thank you for your support of this community center for performing arts and culture, civic events, and more!
This project is now on hold, because COVID has changed funding priorities and opportunities. We are exploring grants to allow us to carry out this plan, to improve safety in the front row and the quality of your theater experience in the whole balcony.
