Call for Board Candidates
The Touchet Valley Arts Council, TVAC (dba The Liberty Theater) is seeking candidates for the Board of Directors. We seek persons with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to govern our non-profit corporation. The basic commitment is one board meeting a month, although we also expect participation in at least one activity or committee.
Anyone interested in becoming a board member for TVAC is encouraged to talk to a Board Member, or submit a letter of interest, briefly describing your background and area of interest (for example, live shows, cinema, special talents such as fundraising or simply “general”). Due to the COVID restrictions starting March 2020, all board and committee meetings were conducted via ZOOM, but as of July 2021 we resumed meetings in person. Interested people will be invited as guests to attend our next scheduled meeting to acquaint themselves with board proceedings.
The Board sets Policy and governs TVAC and the Liberty Theater. Much of the work is done in committees, and Board Members are expected to contribute and serve on at least one committee or activity. We strive for diversity. We would like to encourage younger members and members involved with business, downtown, and other organizations.
Letters can be submitted by email to manager@libertytheater.org or by mail to The Liberty Theater, PO Box 233, Dayton WA 99328.
We’re excited to meet you!

Since its remodeling and rebirth in 2001, the historic Liberty Theater in Dayton, Washington has been a home to first-run cinema, live stage productions, guest artist concerts, foreign films, short-film festivals, civic events and even weddings. In other words, it is a unique community place.
During a time when public school funding for the Arts has suffered, we are constantly pursuing our mission to preserve and enhance the Arts in Columbia County and Southeast Washington State as an indispensable dimension to our shared ecology and humanity. For the last 20 years, the Liberty Theater has helped connect people, strengthen families, develop youth leadership and enhance positive self-image across all ages. With both financial support and the skills and talents of many, we are a true partnership of people who believe in what we do.
